Independent Dianne Hadden says “Protect Macedon Ranges!”

Independent candidate in Ballarat East, Dianne Hadden, has again confirmed to Macedon Ranges Residents’ Association [MRRA] her absolute determination to see State level planning protection restored in Macedon Ranges.  In parliament last August she called on the Minister for Planning, Rob Hulls, to provide protection from over-development:

“The beauty of the Macedon Ranges has been described as a great opportunity for the speculator and land developer to make a fast buck to carve up this magnificent rural landscape for a quick profit. However, the Macedon Ranges must be safeguarded and protected as a high-quality area…  The action I seek from the minister [for planning] is to urgently restore the state significance policy protection status for the Macedon Ranges before the local communities and magnificent rural land and ranges are lost forever,” said Dianne Hadden.

MRRA Secretary Christine Pruneau said, “Dianne is a real fighter and doesn’t hesitate to stand up for community causes.   We first approached Dianne two years ago and she has always been there for us.  She has been a staunch supporter and has gone in ‘boots and all’ on the State protection for Macedon Ranges campaign.  This puts her in the opposite corner to Geoff Howard, the Labor candidate in Ballarat East, because the Labor Party has made it crystal clear it will not protect Macedon Ranges.  We are asking residents to consider this carefully when they vote.”
