My name is Megan Hannes and I am a concerned Australian citizen.  I am concerned by the levels of apathy I see in young Australia.

One way I would like to tackle this is by the creation of the Activate Festival prior to the next federal election.  I have been in touch with "Get Up" and will be meeting with a representative of theirs late in January.

I am wondering if you have any people involved in your organisation who may like to chat with me regarding this proposal intended to 'activate' young people - a large festival - maybe held at Fed Square, Melbourne - filled with exhibits from every lobby and political group we can get our hands on - the best activist bands from across Australia and Internationally, presentations from successful campaigners etc etc

The VEC will be there to enrol people to vote and attendees will leave with an intention, purpose to create a world that they want to live in - not just living at the effect of the elements creating it now.

I am an ordinary girl with big ideas - no money - but a lot of passion.  You should also know I am a member of the Australian Greens, however I do not intend this event to be promoted as a Greens event and all political parties would be included on the same level of participation.

I am looking for people who would like to work on this project with me, help source funding and coordinate it - I work full time like many people and am also involved in other community projects outside work already.  If you know of anyone who for this would be a fun and exciting project to create, please have them contact me asap as we need to get the ball rolling now...
