Consultation Begins For Gisborne Flood Study:  Public Information Session 17 May

(9/5/05 – E) Get out your flood photos!  Community input into this important study is critical.

In what could reasonably be regarded as (almost) a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, your input is needed into a comprehensive flood study that is about to begin in Gisborne.  Council, in conjunction with Water Technologies (the consultants appointed to do the study), is asking residents to fill in and return a survey form (click to see survey form), and a community information session will be held on Tuesday 17 May at the Gisborne Service Centre, Hamilton Street, between 2pm and 7pm.  As Gisborne desperately needs accurate flooding information, residents are urged to support this project.   Council’s contact for further information is Nick Haslinghouse, Manager, Infrastructure, 5429 9635.  You could of course get the ball rolling by asking why the study area doesn’t include all still-undeveloped Residential 1 zoned land, such as land in the Dalton Road/Daly Street area and so on.
