Council Is Preparing A New Environment Strategy - 'Drop-Ins' 11, 18 and 24 August, 5.30 - 7.00pm

(10/8/15 - E)   With a Council that puts environment last, it's going to be up to you to get this critical issue 'up front and centre'.  Get involved.

Council is holding 'drop-in' sessions tomorrow night (11 August) at Gisborne Shire Offices, and at Kyneton Mechanics Institute on 18 August, and at Romsey Community Hub on 24 August (sorry, Woodend, nothing for you).   Council is also running another one of its surveys, and written or email submissions can be made until 11 September.

Go to Council's website for more information and background documents and fact sheets.  http://www.mrsc.vic.gov.au/Council_the_Region/News_Media/Latest_News/Our_environment_our_future

You should also ask Council for a copy of the existing Natural Environment Strategy (so you can see the current Strategy), previous Strategies and other environmental documents it has (the Macedon Ranges Habitat Quality and Conservation Significance report, June 2004, for example).

MRRA Says:

We know, and you and Council will too, that most commuters won't be home from work by 5.30pm.   Nevertheless, super-human effort needed from community, because this is a Council that just doesn't 'get' or value environment.   It's not just about "amenity", it's about what sustains life - the air we breathe, the water we drink, natural resources, landscapes, vegetation, wildlife - and how we protect them.
